A third-generation Marylander, Senator Ben Cardin was first elected to the Senate in 2006 and currently serves as Chair of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, and the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. He also serves on the Environment & Public Works, Finance, and Foreign Relations Committees. Senator Cardin began his career in public service as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1967, followed by serving Maryland’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives until 2006.
