The Leadership team is a small but mighty group of dedicated people working toward the common goal of providing best-in-class programming to our current cohort as well as our alumni. From the development of engaging, challenging content to the unique selection of venues off the beaten path, each of us contributes to the overall success of the organization.

DANA BOYER

Engagement and Development Manager

Dana serves as the Engagement and Development Manager at The Leadership, bringing over eight years of experience in the non-profit sector. Her work is fueled by a deep passion for connecting people, fostering community, and driving meaningful engagement. With a BBA in Music Business from Belmont University and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University, Dana combines creative insight with strategic thinking to support The Leadership’s mission and growth. She is especially interested in using technology to enhance outreach and collaboration. Outside of work, Dana loves learning about emerging technologies and is an avid musician who finds joy in making and sharing music.

DAVID SACHS

Executive Director

David serves as Executive Director of The Leadership, an organization dedicated to transforming Baltimore by developing and connecting its leaders. As a teacher, innovator and senior manager, David has worked in the leadership development space for over 25 years with individuals and organizations across industries, geographies and cultures. Previously, he helped to launch the Erickson School at UMBC as the School’s first Vice-Dean and a Professor of Practice. David has also served as a Vice President and head of Corporate Learning and Development at T. Rowe Price, catalyzed innovation and growth as Executive Director of Executive Education at Harvard Business School, and designed and taught programs at Johns Hopkins University, the Maryland Institute College of Art and with Harvard Business Publishing.  In both academic and corporate contexts, David has taught leadership, effective collaboration, designing and managing organizations, and innovation through human-centered design.  Previously, David served as the Chair of the Board of the national Association of Leadership Programs, on the Board of Na’aleh, the Associated’s leadership center and as Vice President of Har Sinai Oheb Shalom Congregation, where he co-chaired the task force that merged two legacy congregational communities.

JANESE MURRAY

Faculty

Janese Murray is the founder and president of Inclusion Impact Consulting, LLC, where she specializes in assisting clients with developing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that align with organizational goals and objectives. Janese has extensive experience in consulting and can also deliver engaging presentations as a keynote speaker, workshop leader, or small group discussion facilitator. Her workshops are interactive and encourage participants to share their perspectives and have constructive conversations with others.  Additionally, she is a certified executive coach and offers professional coaching services to both individuals and teams. Janese’s corporate experience included leading diversity and inclusion efforts at Constellation Energy and Exelon Corporation, where she served as VP of Diversity and Inclusion. As an authority on these topics, Janese has been featured in leading outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and Fortune, contributed to NPR’s Marketplace, and shared her insights at numerous industry events.

Janese is recognized by her clients for her trusted mentorship and consulting expertise, drawing from over two decades of experience to assist them in enhancing workforce diversity and developing a culture that embraces inclusion and equity. Current and previous clients include Maryland Stadium Authority, SRI International, Choice Hotels International, Inc., Itineris Baltimore, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, Waterfront Partnership, Last Mile Education Fund, Notre Dame of Maryland University, and the Exelon Corporation.

LIZ JOY MOORE

Faculty

Liz Joy Moore is a dynamic and innovative experiential educator specializing in leadership development, cultural transformation, and community-building. Known for a creative and mindful approach, for over 15 years Liz has designed and facilitated high-impact experiences across educational institutions, corporate environments, and nonprofit spaces. In 2018, Liz founded the Power Play Project, a consultancy offering customized experiential education and coaching to leaders, educators, and therapists seeking meaningful cultural growth and organizational development. She is also currently on the faculty for ‘The Leadership’ and ‘The Nancy Grasmick Leadership Institute’, two organizations devoted to the development of leaders in the Baltimore area. Earlier in her career, Liz worked with several non-profits to deliver transformative training experiences to schools, corporations, and sports teams. A certified MBCT practitioner, meditation teacher, Kripalu yoga instructor, and L.E.A.D. Mental Health Instructor, Liz integrates trauma-informed care, mindbody healing, and mindfulness practices into the many layers of her work. Her expertise spans collaborative curriculum development, coaching, training design and evaluation, outdoor and adventure education. A published author and hi-lighted on several podcasts, Liz is a passionate advocate for curiosity, play, and the value of their use within leadership. Her programs consistently empower individuals and teams to deepen self-awareness, build resilience, and foster meaningful connections.

LORÉE CLARKE

Operations and Executive Support Manager
Lorée Clarke is the Operations and Executive Support Manager at The Leadership, where she helps keep people, systems, and strategy working in harmony. In her role, she partners closely with the Executive Director and Board to support day-to-day operations while ensuring that programs and events run smoothly for Baltimore’s growing network of civic leaders. Lorée brings a versatile and well-rounded perspective to the role. She’s worked in nonprofit administration, higher education, journalism, foreign service, and communications consulting, with professional experiences that have taken her from Baltimore to Moscow, Frankfurt, and beyond.
A proud graduate of the University of Maryland, Lorée also studied for her master’s degree in Communication at Indiana University Indianapolis. She brings to The Leadership a globally informed, service-driven approach, and she is energized by the chance to help leaders focus less on logistics and more on building meaningful connections that shape Baltimore’s future.

RAJAN PATEL

Faculty

Rajan is an avid maker who believes we can build a better world. He co-invented the Embrace incubator, a product of empathy-driven design that has impacted and saved the lives of over 1,000,000 babies across the developing world. Today, Rajan is passionate about empowering the makers and problem solvers of tomorrow. He trained at Stanford’s d.school to become a teacher of design thinking and has organized and led programs for students, entrepreneurs, and leaders across twelve countries including for The Leadership Baltimore, Stanford University, Capital One, Teach for America, Teach for India, University of Sao Paulo, Center for Asia Leadership, the Malaysian Government, and many more. He is the co-founder of Dent Education, a Baltimore-based nonprofit that empowers under-resourced youth to discover and develop their creative potential to shape the world around them, through programs based on design thinking, making, and entrepreneurship. Rajan holds a BS in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford, an MBA from Stanford, and an MPA from Harvard.
